I have lots of the wincustomize & stardock programs running on my computer.
For some reason, since the install of all these programs, my screensaver has stopped engageing.
I have checked the settings under windows properties and it still shows the screensaver as 'applied' but it won't kick in.
Is there something specific in one of the WC or SD programs that I need to change?

Any advice on what I can check would be great.

Can you get the screensaver to work at all...for example by choosing the "preview" option on the screensaver properties menu?

If you are running WindowsBlinds or WindowFX, try excludnig the screensaver from those apps.

You could try cross circuiting the ODN relays to create an inverse polaron field, that might dislodge the screensaver from its sub-space matrix. Or you could turn off any DX objects/widgets which might be creating activity and preventing the screensaver from running.

Yes. The preview option does work.

I didn't know that WindowFX had a screensaver option. I will have to look more closely at that program. I looked in WindowBlinds and it too, was set to the same as the system properties. If I disable WB and WinFX, then go back into the XP Properties to set the screen saver.... I'll give it a shot.

Disabled DX CPU & Ram Monitors (only ones I use). Will try and see if that's it.

Still no luck folks.

I closed the widgets/objects on the desktop (the Ram Meter & CPU Meter) and the screensaver still will not come on. I am SO stumped on this one.

I'm running, ObjectDock, WB5.0, WindowsFX, CursorXP, Bootskin & LogonStudio.
Sometimes I change to DesktopX Themes and unload WB when I do.
I have tried SysMetrix, but found I didn't like the clutter it left on my desktop and it provided more information than I was wanting. I still have it installed, but don't have any of its things running. I also use the Theme Manager program. I tried the WidgetManager, but discovered that DesktopX does the same funtion. I also have the Stardock Central program loaded to keep track of updates when they are available.

I am new to all these programs and I am learning quickly. I used to run Desktop Sidebar, but found it had lack of support and upgrades. Not much new being made for it, so when I had a computer crash, I went in this direction instead.

The problem still remains though - something is stopping my screensaver and I can't what is causing it. Any other things to think of to try??

I've had something similar happening on this Dell computer I bought a little over a year ago. The screensaver will only engage if I set the time to 1 minute. Anything else, and it never comes on. Weird little glitch, that's for sure.

I didn't find a Screensaver option on WinFX

Add the screensaver file to the exclusion list as with any other program. Note that the screensavers are located in \Windows\system32\ with the file extension ".scr".

I tried to add the ssmypic.scr to the FX xclusion list, but it will only let me add .exe files.

I also set the screensaver to 1 minute to see if that would work - nope.

Next Idea??

You could temporarly disable all startup items and see if that helps. If you go:
Start->Run
Type in msconfig
Goto the Startup tab and disable all the items there.
Then reboot.
See if the screensaver works.
If it works then you can begin to enable one item at the time (yea, I know. pain in the bum) and see what program causes it.

I disabled only 3 things using msconfig.
They were unrelated to any wincustomize programs.
I did this as a start, because I didn't like them loading all the time in the first place.
There were a RAID setup utility (don't use it; didn't intend to use it; accidentally installed because of stupidity when installing new motherboard), MSMessenger (I don't IM and I don't like it taking up memory), and a Total Recorder utility that I don't use very often. Then I rebooted just to disable those, and see what happens.
In my busy schedule, I was AFK and my Screensaver loaded just by not starting those. I was shocked.

NOW... When I reboot, it tells me I'm booting in a custom mode and wants to know if I want to change back to normal.
